Research a Subject

Researching is vital to write a good essay or report. You need to know the subject that you are going to answer/write about.

As dyslexia, if you do not understand the subject in the depth needed for the essay and report it will be seen easily when for the reader of the essay or report. This will because the essay or report will be written unclear.

This section will look at the best ways for a dyslexic to do research and to be able to understand it when writing a essay or report.

Before researching the subject you will need to understand what the question is asking of you to answer. To do you will need to brake the question or the subject up. A good way to do this is by using a spider diagram.

For example, here is a question and here is how to develop this for research and essay or report writing:-

“What is dyslexia?”

  • Way of thinking
  • Not a disability
  • Picture thinking
  • Problems

– Reading

  • Not remembering what was being read
  • Word blindness
  • Words moving around the page

– Writing

  • Comprehension
  • Spelling
  • Planning

– Speaking

  • Words getting mix up
  • Saying the wrong words
  • Saying the wrong sound at the ends of the word

– Listening

  • Not understanding long words
  • Only catching certain words that allow picture thinking
  • Only able to hear small amount of information
  • Self acceptance
  • Understanding the problem of dyslexia
  • Understanding the way of thinking
  • Knowing how to work

As you can see, looking at that question, I have just developed it in depth. Developing segments areas of the questions.

To answer a question you just need to get the main theme of what it is asking and then looking at it will segments areas and asking more.

These segment areas can be used for research title and titles for essays and reports.

Once you have the titles you can use these to research the subject.

However, before you use these titles heading for research you need to asking yourself about what do you know about these titles heading (what do they mean for you).

Therefore, what you need to do is write a paragraph on each title area and segment to see what you know.

This will give you a idea of what you understand of each of the areas and also the who subject.

When you done this will allow you to have a picture in your mind of what you know of the subject and what you need to find in more depth.

“So That Means You Need to Research”

So where can you do your research and get the information you need to answer those questions and the segment area:-

  • Library
  • Teachers
  • Other student doing the same essay or report
  • Using the internet
  • Reading up
  • Watching video on the subject

As being dyslexia, you need to work out what type of research is best for your type of thinking. For example do you work best with work on:-

  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Writing

So what you need to do is to find research that you can find for exam:-

  • Reading books
